The AeroAcoustics Aircraft Systems, Inc. Aircraft Payload Extender XL increases the maximum landing weight of the Cessna 402C aircraft from 6800 lb to 7200 lb.  Installation of the APE XL provides operators with increased flexibility–particularly on short haul routes favored by the 402C.

The APE XL modification consists of a simple modification to the existing, main landing gear.  The aircraft empty weight is unchanged after the kit installation and the kit can easily be installed in several hours.  Operators can continue to fly the 402C with the same procedures utilized before the APE XL installation.

The APE XL works in conjunction with previously certified STC's that increase the maximum takeoff gross weight for the 402C.  Cape Air, the world's largest regional airline, has incorporated the APE XL for all 402C aircraft in their fleet.
